About Keycard

At Keycard, we’re building identity & access infrastructure for the agent-native era—where software isn’t static, but a dynamic, constantly changing system of AI agents working on behalf of people and businesses to complete dynamic tasks at runtime.

Our mission is to unlock the agent economy by empowering developers and enterprises with the secure, scalable foundations they need to build, deploy, adopt, and trust agentic applications. To do this, we’re building the real-time, in-band, contextual guardrails required to transition from human-driven to truly autonomous and agentic workflows that give users, builders, and security teams the confidence and control they need to bring agents out of the lab and into production.

At our core, we’re laser-focused on delivering a delightful, best-in-class developer experience that gives them the tools they need to create category-defining applications and experiences while giving platform and security teams the security, scalability, visibility, control, and enablement they need to accelerate their organizations journey to becoming agent native.

We’re a small, distributed team of repeat founders and builders, with backgrounds from Snyk, Auth0, HashiCorp, and Heroku.

Joining Keycard now means helping define not just our technology, but also the culture and company we’re building together—during a once-in-a-generation platform shift.

The Role

We’re hiring a Staff Frontend Engineer to invent the future of agent-native workflows, unlocking the true potential of trusted, autonomous agents backed by Keycard’s next-generation identity & access infrastructure.

Your mission is to craft user-centric experiences that empower security and platform engineers to transform their companies — and empower developers of all shapes and sizes to build trusted agent experiences. At the same time, you’ll be part of a team that uses agents as first-class citizens in our own workflows, helping us prove and refine what an agent-native company looks like in practice.

You’ll influence everything a developer touches: from the experiences they create for their own users, to the management console, dashboards, and interactive visualizers that are the centerpiece of the Keycard platform. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with founders, designers, and engineers — shaping the product together, not in a silo. You’ll have huge autonomy, accountability to deliver, and the opportunity to help define a category and reshape how software is built.

This is a unique opportunity to:

  • Unlock the Future of Agentic Workflows: Build experiences and visualizations that make it easy to understand and adopt Keycard, empowering developers to create trusted agent experiences with agent-native workflows that translate seamlessly between the web, terminal, and code with drop-in SDKs that support protocols like MCP, MCP-UI, and A2A out of the box.

  • Distill Complexity Into Simplicity: Turn complex security and identity concepts into intuitive onboarding and investigation-grade views — including graph-based explorations of relationships and permissions that make it easy to understand access pathways and policy making it easy for developers to understand and build trusted agents.

  • Enable Agent-Native Delivery: Establish our design system, pipelines, and testing strategies while helping us define what it means to build with agents and deliver reliable, iterative agent-native product experiences into production.

  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with designers to create beautiful, intuitive experiences, and with systems engineers to make complex infrastructure approachable and reliable while helping to shape a culture of delivery and best-in-class execution.

  • Empower Developers & Security Teams: Create the interfaces and workflows that enable developers, users, and security teams to collaborate on the creation and use of trusted, autonomous agents, knowing that this is critical to truly unlock the real potential of the agentic future.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced Tool Builder: Significant experience shipping production products for security and/or developer audiences with React/Next.js, TypeScript, Vite/SWC, and comfortable shaping and contributing to powerful REST APIs that serve not only the needs of frontends, but the end to end platform as a whole.

  • Graph & Data Fluency: Comfort with D3, Visx, or similar for graph rendering; skilled at performance-tuning Canvas/WebGL apps; proven ability to build smooth experiences on top of large data sets.

  • Agent-Native, Systems Builder Mindset: Experience building/evolving component libraries, maintaining Storybook docs, creating testing pipelines, and instrumenting for data-driven iteration with deep excitement to craft paths to production that are agent-native using agents like Claude Code and tools via MCP.

  • Hands-On, Ownership & Autonomy: Thrive in 0→1 environments, balancing long-term vision with rapid delivery, and love being given deep opportunity for ownership, mastery, and the accountability that drives incredible outcomes.

  • Remote Collaboration Mastery: Experience working in distributed teams. You communicate through clear written plans and async updates, enabling fast feedback loops — but know when to jump on a call or write a doc to align everyone quickly.

Strong Candidates May Also Have

  • Agent-Native Builder: Actively experimenting with agents in your own workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) and forming strong opinions on how organizations can adopt coding agents to empower every developer. You go beyond simply using agents, you are experimenting with building your own to understand the next generation of software.

  • Graph & Security Visualization Expertise: Experience building identity graphs, authorization policy explorers, or threat-model diagrams.

  • LLM UI Fluency: Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain.js, Next.js AI, or similar, embedding conversational or coding agents into frontend experiences.

  • Edge Rendering Experience: Exposure to server components and edge platforms (e.g., Vercel, Cloudflare Workers/Pages) for performant global UIs.

  • Open Source Contributions: A track record of contributing to frontend tooling, visualization libraries, or AI/identity projects.

What We Offer

  • Build at the Frontier: Work every day at the frontier of agent-native systems — shipping, inventing, and iterating on technology that hasn’t been built before. You’ll be given huge autonomy, the opportunity to gain mastery, and the chance to work in a team that holds each other accountable to succeed.

  • Truly Agent-Native Culture: At Keycard, we don’t just enable others to adopt agents — we use them ourselves to build. You’ll help shape an organization that embeds AI into its foundation as an enduring competitive advantage.

  • Compensation With Upside: Market-competitive salaries and generous equity packages (4-year vest, 1-year cliff) give you the security to focus on building — and the asymmetric upside of ownership in a company chasing a category-defining mission.

  • Comprehensive Benefits & Recharge: Health, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage for you and your family, plus 4 weeks vacation, 11 statutory holidays, and 1 volunteer day annually. We encourage at least 2 weeks off each year to fully recharge.

  • Tools That Keep You Ahead: A new MacBook Pro, a $500 stipend for peripherals, and the best AI tools available so you can work at the forefront of agent-native workflows.

  • Remote-First Flexibility: We are a remote-first team prioritizing asynchronous collaboration, with hiring focused in North and South America. Work where you’re strongest — we just want the best.

Why Join Us?

Keycard is building the fundamental unlock for the next generation of software: enabling truly secure and trusted agentic applications. Under the hood, we’re building a new identity and access control stack to take us from a world of static, user-focused, long-lived roles and credentialing to one of mixed machine & human interaction that is dynamic, contextually-scoped, and short-lived.

By joining as an early employee, you’ll have the opportunity to help curate a culture of iterative craftsmanship, disciplined design, empowerment to own meaningful problems, and consistent high-quality delivery with real impact. You’ll collaborate with the founders and investors who have championed identity, security, and developer tools from seed to scale with companies like Snyk, Auth0, and Heroku.

If you’re energized by tackling complex distributed systems and want to advance both developer productivity and security posture, with a hunger to learn, have an impact, and move quickly with determination we’d love to explore how you can help us shape the future of software.
